General Information

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON A LAKE MICHIGAN FISHING CHARTER?
If you never have had the chance to fish the "BIG LAKE" or are considering a charter for this summer, you should really give it a try! There is no where else you can go in the Midwest and consistently catch the size and amount of fish that you do on Lake Michigan! What about cost? You may be surprised! An average fishing charter will probably cost you less per person than dinner and drinks at a fancy restaurant!

WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER BEEN FISHING BEFORE?
No problem! Although the fish we catch can be pretty big, the equipment we use on board LOOKOUT is sturdy and easy to use. You'll receive plenty of instructions on how to use the equipment and tips on fighting the fish, and feel free to ask questions.... We want you to get as much out of your trip as you can!!

WHAT KIND OF FISH WILL WE CATCH?
The size, species, and numbers of fish will depend mainly on what time of the season you take your charter (see the best time to fish in the menu). But the general rule of thumb is springtime, large quantities of fish, but smaller in average size. In the summer, larger size fish and more variety of species. In the fall, typically the largest fish of the year.While fishing conditions do change, you can be assured that we will put you on to the hottest action possible!!

WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING ON A FISHING CHARTER?
Actually surprisingly little! All the fishing equipment is provided for you, so you'll only need to bring: food, drinks, adequate clothing, a cooler to transport your fish home, and a fishing license. If you don't have a license we can tell you where to stop on your way to the boat. (See also What to Bring on the menu bar).

WHAT KIND OF BOAT WILL WE BE ON?
LOOKOUT is a 36 foot Trojan F-36 sport fishing machine. The boat is properly outfitted with all of the Coast Guard required safety and navigational equipment is thoroughly inspected, insured and maintained,and your safety and comfort is our number one priority!

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I BRING?
By license we are allowed to carry up to six passengers. However, six people is not a required number! Charter rates are adjusted by the number in your group(See rates main menu). LOOKOUT is also able to easily accommodate large groups (Extra Boats) charters for fund-raisers, office outings, etc.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
In the event that your captain determines the lake is to rough to fish, we will do our best to notify you ahead of time and re-schedule your date. However, there may be days when this decision is made at the dock. Your deposit will be forwarded to another date. We do fish in the rain, so be prepared and bring your rain gear!

THAT ALL SOUNDS GREAT.... WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
It's simple! After you've put together your party, choose a date or two that fits your schedule and call (1-630-202-4992) to make make your reservations. We will take your date(s) and provide you with any other information you may need prior to your trip. A deposit will be required to hold your date.
